Prompt:      Designing a transportable pavilion for the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan using the concept of 3D Nesting
Material:     3D Printing Concrete
Tools:         Rhino 3D, Grasshopper, Robotic Fabrication
This project is a design proposal for a transportable pavilion to be erected at the World Expo 2025, held in Osaka, Japan. The form of the pavilion is inspired by the catalan vault geometries and uses basic shapes and lofting techniques to form a vaulted pavilion. The concept of 3D geometry nesting is is applied computationally to make this dry-cladded, self-supporting structure pavilion portable.
The structure consists of exhibition spaces, gathering spaces with the courtyard in the center as a source of light and a space for performances. This 3-D printed concrete pavilion is robotically fabricated in nested groups of pieces. These 3-D printed parts, weighing 700 tonnes approximately, will then be shipped to Osaka for assembly.
