Location: Barcelona, Spain
Project Type: Analysis + Generative Design
Tools Used: Mosquito, DepthmapX, Wallacei
Social media has the potential to help us plan our cities by providing us with specific required data. It has the power to become a monitoring tool to scrutinize and provide valuable input about public events, activities in and around the city. In order to test its potential, the project intends to analyse the lively spaces, high and low activity zones in the city of Barcelona. The social media hashtags can be the source route for the data required. They provide us with the images and geographical locations the images were clicked from and give us a gist of what people like to capture and post on social media. The geographical locations help us analyse parts of cities that are visited relating to the hashtags. The project concludes with generative design variants for the ‘Gaudi Pavilion’ using Wallacei evolutionary solver.
